I am no environmental activist and when it comes to global warming, I am skeptical and on centre ground when it comes to the arguments between the left and right wingers on this issue. However, I strongly believe little things matter e.g. shower rather than bath, switching lights off when not in use, unplug all appliances when unused, and buying local produce as much as possible.....
I attended the birthday dinner party of my adapted grandma in England, May, who is 93 today... The Cantonese dinner was great with the usual treats of crispy duck, king prawns, amongst many others and that nice madeira cake we never got around to...Heartwarmingly fun it was especially thinking that every year, all the invited guests, mostly family members, come and try to make the best for a very memorable celebration like it's the last. May had a mini-stroke and a few episodes of dementia three years ago, and we thought she was about to leave us. Every birthday since then has become a promise of a celebration like there is no tomorrow. Three birthdays after, we all have the same unspoken commitment, yet it never really feels like a been-there-before party like one would after celebrating a close friend's birthday party on a big bender in the English drunk-and-plastered- to-the-floor way after attempting to outdo the previous year's bender ...
She was in her 30s when this photo was taken... Right now, she is still sharp, witty and pretty more than some folks 30 years her junior. I will try and get her up-to-date portrait next year...Life becomes more precious indeed every inch away from what we think would be the finishing line....

England's green fields abound
quaint villages they surround,
As the sun shines, emerald fields untold
free for everyone to behold.
Lone trees thrive upon them and adorn
the earth from which they are born.
Like precious jewels on sunkissed hills;
a focal point for photographic stills.
Behold the beauty of green fields,
nature's own painting, they're artists yield.
To anyone, they evoke sublime happiness
for their beauty, poets utter gratefulness.

Ooh, this is beautiful! read more
